To keep them transparent to the viewer, also paint them with shiny black epoxy paint and let them dry for a couple days before screwing them back onto the cabinet. You’d have to lay out the separate wood pieces to make sure they’re centered between and look visually pleasing to the eye before you actually choose to screw them on.

You might temporarily stick them there with a couple small pieces of double-sided Scotch foam tape. These would let you reposition the pieces if you misjudged, yet let you not screw them in place.
